Little travelers

We're planning our trip back to the US this week. We can't wait to see everyone! Please say lots of prayers for me that the boys are good on the plane. We'll leave here Saturday afternoon, and arrive in Denver Saturday evening (local time). If anyone has any advice on the long flight or dealing with jet lag, I'd love to hear it!

In preparation for the trip we've been playing "airplane" a lot. Here's a picture of the boys sitting nicely in their seats with their seatbelts on!

  1. I haven't done a long plane trip but some things we did with the kids on the 24 hour drive to Florida were watch DVD's, playdough, glow sticks, books, sleeping, frequent stops to stretch our legs...which is why it too 24 hours instead of 19. We have older phones that the kids can watch movies on. We also borrowed a portable DVD player, which lots of people recommended to us. Dags also REALLY loves playing with Connect Four, the game and I had found a travel version at a thrift store.

  2. If you know of anyone who can lend you a portable DVD player or a tablet that would be my best tip. I let Teddy watch literally hours of TV on long flights. I find that in 15-20 minute stretches it really helps him calm down, keeps him from getting super antsy, and can actually help him fall asleep (we have little head phones so it forces him to block out what is going on around him) I also think having lots of little items that you take out at different intervals during the flight is nice, and snacks as well.
I LOVE that you are playing airplane- so cute! I HOPE they sleep for you a bit although if they don't try to just let it go- I find that I get the most stressed when I am just desperately trying to get Teddy to sleep and it isn't happening and he senses my frustration and starts acting up. Then it helps to take a little walk- now with 2 this will be harder but if you can trust one to stay in their seat then doable.

Good luck- just think the destination and the time with family will make the flight, no matter how hard, worth it!

  3. You are doing a good job prepping them. That is great that they are buckled in their seats. They are so sweet. Darling picture! Hope they're half as excited as Poppy and I are to see the three of you!
